Coffee Morning – Hurst Methodist Church – 3rd Oct

Come and join us for our monthly coffee morning at Hurst Methodist Church on Sat 3rd Oct from 10am – 12noon. There will be various stalls including cakes and bakes, mystery parcels, raffle as well as refreshments and a warm welcome. We will also be hosting Green Pastures Christian Bookshop.

Leading Worship Sessions – Trinity Church – 5th Oct

This is the first of 4 sessions for those who would like to learn more about leading worship in your own church.  We will look at all aspects of leading worship including music, prayers, reflections and much more. Harvest Coffee Morning – Dukinfield Methodist Church – 10th Oct

Dukinfield Methodist Church invites you to their Harvest Coffee Morning on Sat 10th Oct from 10am til 12.30pm. There you will receive a warm welcome, a variety of refreshment options including bacon butties and a few stalls. Come and celebrate this harvest time.

Quiz night – Trinity Church – 17th Oct

Come and test your general knowledge on Sat 17th Oct at Trinity Church Audenshaw. Doors open at 6.30pm and the quiz starts at 7pm.  Tickets cost £6 and include supper. Tickets need to be booked by Monday 12th Oct, just contact Susan on admin@gtmethodist.org

Experience Harvest

We are looking for volunteers to help with Experience Harvest this Oct.

 

Experience is a hands on experience for school aged children to interact with different seasons of the Christianity. We are looking at Harvest this time and would like for more people to be involved.  We have a number of different roles from making squash to helping with story telling (there is a script) and much more.  The dates are:

 

MOSSLEY - Monday 12th October (all day) & Tuesday 13th October (afternoon only)

WATERLOO - Monday 19th October (all day)

HURST - Tuesday 20th October & Wednesday 21st October (both dates all day)

 

If you can help, please let Lynne Stretton know or email admin@gtmethodist.org ASAP even if you can only offer a morning or afternoon, that would be a great help.  This is an important and lovely way to share the Good News with over 300 primary school children and their teachers. 

 

Knitting for Rosehill

Firstly, a massive thank you to all those who have knitted hearts and flowers for Rosehill in the past.  They have been very appreciated by families and staff.  Rob has come up with the next idea.

 

A knitted nativity – we are looking for people who can knit to offer to knit characters from the Christmas nativity. Rob would like to do a posada (where the figures of Mary and Joseph) travel through Advent from classroom to classroom and end up at the Christmas assembly to share the good news of Christmas with the knitted nativity figures.  We will need Mary, Joesph, baby Jesus, shepherds, sheep, angels, stars & wise men (for January)

 

Can you help?  – we have a pattern if you would like to help out or if you have your own pattern that is fine. Please speak to Rob or email admin@gtmethodist.org.uk for more details and let us know which nativity figure/s you can knit. Thank you.

 

 

Retirement Service – Trinity Church – 31st Oct

Some of you may know our minister, Rev Graham Tarn is retiring at the end of October. We have organised a " leaving do" for him on: Saturday 31st October 2026.  Service at 2pm led by Rev Sheila Coop followed by refreshments at Trinity Church, Audenshaw.  All are welcome.

To help with catering, we would appreciate numbers from your church by Friday 15th October.  Please reply with numbers to Val Williams on 07733 890 666 or val.williamsb91@yahoo.co.uk.

October Tips

Tackle climate change and reduce your heating bills by finding and reducing the draughts in your home. Find the gaps that let cold air in and warm air out (keyholes, letterboxes and gaps around windows, doors, loft hatches and floorboards for example). Do what you can to fix these gaps - there are lots of tutorials on how to do this online. It’s also a good time to prepare for winter by putting radiator reflector foil or baking foil behind the radiator. This will reflect heat back into your room.
